All triple rolls are extremely powerful (they create powerful bots, put up powerful shields, etc.) AND they grant another turn. Of course, you can get completely destroyed by first time players if they get lucky. You can certainly tell when your opponent is panicking - that's when they begin to make stupid mistakes or take unnecessary risks - and will sometimes drop connection (but there's a penalty in it for them - they automatically lose ranking - so it's not a rampant pratice.) And if your opponent DOES drop connection, the fight continues where it left off but with the CPU in control, and you still earn (or lose) your online ranking points. It boils down to a game of risk management and "reading" the other player. Yes, all user interaction is done via a slot machine-like mechanism, but on each turn you get to choose between 3 different slot machines (robot creation/upgrade, defensive maneuver, offensive maneuver) AND you get to determine where the first slot lands (so it's really a two armed bandit).Īlso, the odds change as the game progresses - the lower your health, the higher the odds that the second two rolls will match your first.
